A standing seam roof is the most durable metal roofing solution on the market. The seams are mechanically formed on-site, ensuring perfect watertightness without screw holes in the roof surface. A standing seam roof typically lasts 50–70 years and is virtually maintenance-free.

Why a standing seam roof?
A standing seam roof is a premium choice that combines a modern appearance with exceptional durability. Unlike profiled sheet metal roofing, a standing seam roof has no screw fasteners penetrating the roof surface — the metal sheets are joined by mechanical seaming. This makes the roof extremely weather-resistant and minimises the risk of leaks. Standing seam roofs are also well suited for low-pitch roofs (over 3°) and large roof areas.
Standing seam roof installation
- Free condition assessment — assessment of the current roof condition with drone imaging.
- Removal of old roofing — old roofing material is removed and recycled.
- Substructure inspection — battens, underlayment and ventilation are inspected.
- Underlayment installation — new underlayment protects the structure.
- Standing seam panel installation — metal sheets are lifted onto the roof and mechanically seamed on-site.
- Finishing — penetrations, chimney flashings, ridges and eaves.
- Final inspection — drone imaging and written report.
Standing seam roof price
The price of a standing seam roof is typically 60–90 €/m². The price is influenced by the roof size, shape, pitch and the number of penetrations. Although a standing seam roof costs more upfront than profiled sheet metal, its longer lifespan (50–70 years vs 30–50 years) makes it more cost-effective in the long run. A standing seam roof is also virtually maintenance-free, further reducing lifecycle costs.

Standing seam vs profiled sheet metal
Standing seam and profiled sheet metal differ significantly. In a standing seam roof, the seams are mechanically formed and completely watertight. In profiled sheet metal, the panels are fastened with screws that penetrate the roof surface. A standing seam roof lasts 50–70 years, while profiled sheet metal typically lasts 30–50 years. Standing seam is also aesthetically more modern — clean lines without visible screws.

Standing seam roof maintenance
A standing seam roof is virtually maintenance-free. We recommend a roof inspection every 15–20 years. Cleaning the gutters and downpipes in spring and autumn is sufficient to keep the roof in good condition. The standing seam roof surface withstands Finnish weather conditions excellently and does not require painting or coating.
